  1. I have lived in France/UK/Canada and the USA. The latter being the most ‘behind’ in terms of understanding healthcare. That said, the UK gives its healthcare to everyone at the cost of its tax-paying public, whilst France is hit-and-miss and Canada doesn’t have enough medical staff willing to work for the pay it offers, which is one reason the US has said they could never entertain ‘socialized’ healthcare because it would lose its good doctors to the private sector and other countries. This would probably be so as long as doctors thought they should earn a million a year. What is the solution? I really don’t know, but as long as they don’t fix it, mental health will always lanquish at the bottom of the heap despite it being the most important.

    1. You bring up some very good points. (I, too, have lived in Europe and found France to not be so consistent in its access, but Norway seems to have a great system because everything system is based on socialism). It is very unfortunate that many doctors want higher pay than can be provided under ‘socialist’ healthcare, but this is partially because medical school is extremely expensive and their education took about 10yrs, and so they feel entitled to high pay. I feel as though there needs to be changes to education and its costs in general…It’s all a shame and will take so much change.

      1. I’ve never been to Norway but I have heard the same. It is unfortunate that doctors are not about ‘care’ as much as profit that’s true. It is true that they should earn more than most because of how long it takes to train, but they also need to balance that with a system that provides for as many as possible. I don’t know if that will happen but I hope that they see how much mental health is needed as so many of the people who do not get help get worse and end up hurting others. I do believe it can change, we must believe this. xo
